League of Legends

OK, League of Legends is not DOTA so let's not go there please.  I've played both games (yup, been a DOTA player first) and League of Legends is my game at the moment. I found several elements and feature from this game that other MOBA games doesn't have and those things allow me to play my kind of game. So let's go for it, shall we?

Summoner who?

Players in this game are known as a "Summoner" who summons "Champions" or those characters you see battling with each other. Now as a Summoner, you get to use summoner-exclusive skills that you can unlock as your Summoner level goes up. The skills can be categorized as Offensive, Defensive and Utility skills.

Please refer to this list for the description.

Aside from the Summoner skills, you also get to customize your own Runes. Runes has four types: The Mark is best used for offense, Seals are best for physical defense, healing and recovery while Glyphs provide the highest boost for magical power and defense and the last is the Quintessences that grant a substantial bonus to any stat and special bonuses unavailable through other runes.

Read some more about the runes here.

Want to modify things some more to fit your playing style? Then let's move on to the Masteries. Like the summoner spells, you also get to earn mastery points as your summoner level goes up. They are organized into three bracket or trees: Offense, Defense and Utility. This makes things more flexible for you if you want your Champion to be well-rounded or you can also focus on stats and bonuses to amplify your character some more.

 Masteries details here.

The Champions of the League

Uh, I think I'll keep this brief because it will take me forever to discuss them one by one and including the role they play. AD Champions deal Physical damage while AP Champions deal Ability Power (Magic) damage. Tanks are, well, tanks and initializes the clash while Supports play as, you guessed it, support and Junglers are Champions who doesn't stay on a particular lane much as they sort of ganks different lanes to help other summoners who are being pressured by the opposing team.

Get details here.

What I like about the Champions here are their skins or costume that you can purchase to give them a more personalized touch whenever you play.  Now come on, don't be so bitter if you can't afford them. Publishers also need to earn some cash to help maintain their servers you know.

The Bragging Rights

And finally this! This is what I really like about this game, their Rank Matches. If you feel confident enough about your game, then it's time to go head to head with other players of the same skill level and battle your way among the League ranks. The higher your rank means the better you play (not 100% true for some though). Just don't suck when playing on the higher tier matches because trash talking and taunts are common here (Example: you're ranked Diamond 1 but you play like bronze 5.). They might say things like: "Hey, how much did pay for that account noob?", etc.

Well, that's about it for now. Just remember to visit League of Legends forums and similar sites for guides and strategies in-game. Lastly: Practice, practice and some more practice. Ciao!
